Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre in Colorado undertook a visual transformation project more than two decades in the making. The City of Denver wanted to modernize the space to match the prestige of the venue, requiring a complete overhaul of the visitor center that could tell the story of the park from its prehistoric roots to its status as one of the premier outdoor music stages in the world. The vibrant exhibits carry Red Rocks’ story from its prehistoric roots through its rise as a world-class music venue. The breadth and depth of the signage was one of the biggest challenges.
The project included hundreds of signs, with every exhibit rebuilt from top to bottom and each requiring different fabrication methods. Logistical hurdles piled up: a full concert schedule to work around, an active construction site, and onsite conditions where installation methods couldn’t be determined until structures were complete. Guests are directed toward Music Alley and the Hall of Fame, where a new dye-sublimation process delivered high-impact inductee graphics. FASTSIGNS of DTC took on fabrication and installation, freeing the design firm and construction team to focus on the build. Roughly six months went into design, submittals and samples; production and installation spanned another six. (Photo: BIG PICTURE; FASTSIGNS/PROPELLED BRANDS)
