Maruti and Hyundai deck up outlets to pull niche buyers

The automotive retail is set for a major overhaul with market leaders Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai Motor undertaking major plans to refurbish their extensive dealership network spread across India as both aim to offer new driving options of premium car to Indian customers looking for upgrades and tap the surging demand for such feature-rich vehicles. The companies together command around 60 per cent of the 2.5 million Indian passenger vehicle market and have laid out plans to introduce bigger vehicles loaded with premium features to tap niche set of customers. Their dealers have been informed to deck-up outlets to give a premium experience to future customers. Maruti’s new range of premium dealerships would be more scattered in the metros and major cities while Hyundai would refurbish all of its 415 current showrooms by the year 2017-18 under the GDSI norms. Sunshine benefit is for both auto enthusiasts and signage players; for the latter, new business opportunities for signage majors engaging in in-shop displays, designs and related activities.
