Kudumbashree has opened five cafes—two each at Vadaserikara and Ranni-Perunad and one at Panthalam. The café serves traditional refreshments and coffee to the Sabarimala pilgrims. There are also plans to open similar Cafe Kudumbashree outlets at Nilakkal and Pampa if the devaswom board gives the necessary permit, according to a source from the company. Each of the outlets, with coffee vending machines, will be manned by five members from the neighbourhood women’s groups in shifts.Emergence of such new format outlets and gradual expansion in the retail sector brings fresh business opportunity for the signage companies whose activities predominantly involve in in-store branding and displays.
