Tata International Ltd (TIL) is expanding its footwear production capacity by establishing a new unit near Chennai. The new unit will have an investment outlay of about Rs 25 crore. The capacity will come up at Thirumazhisai for an annual production capacity of two million pairs and it will go operational by 2015-16. At present, TIL has three footwear production facilities in and around Chennai. Having received encouraging response for Aerosoles, US women’s shoe brand, from the western India, TIL is now planning to sell it in other parts of the country by opening 100 retail outlets in the next three months and another 200 outlets in three years. This development will help PSPs, fabricators and others engaging in in-shop designs, displays and other related tasks find new business opportunity.
