SwissQprint has recently introduced a novel process for the continuous printing of Jumbo formats – with which printable on media measuring up to 2.5 x 4 metres or weighing up to 100 kilograms. Both the inkjet systems from the Swiss manufacturer can be retrofitted with this module, which dispenses with a conveyor belt. Oryx and Impala use a new conveying method to fix media during the printing process, with full vacuum power on the printing table.
As soon as the printing beam has reached the end of the table, a vacuum reverser generates a cushion of air between the table and the medium. Even heavyweight items glide effortlessly on the cushion to the new zero point. Once they have reached it, the vacuum is applied again and printing continues. The printer was launched at the recent FESPA Barcelona.
