Intex Technologies, one of the leading mobile handset vendors, has chalked plan to open standalone brand stores to boost its retail presence. Called ‘Intex Smart World’, 400 stores will come up next fiscal (2015-16) at a cost of over Rs. 100 crore. Investments will be through internal accruals. The stores will stock not just handsets (feature and smart-phones), but also other Intex products such as consumer durables & IT peripherals (CDIT) that include speakers, IT accessories, furniture (Intex Styles) and LED TVs. Such expansion plan of the mobile vendor is an added business opportunity for the signage companies dealing in in-shop displays, designs, branding and lots more.
