McDonald’s recently underwent a structural change in India. Present all across the country through two joint ventures since the 1990s, Hardcastle Restaurant and Connaught Plaza Restaurants, the $24-billion US food giant sold its equity stake in the former. Hardcastle Restaurant now has been appointed development licensee for the south and west India. The new ownership structure enables Hardcastle to pursue aggressive growth plans. In three years, the company aims to take the outlet count of McDonald’s to 250 from 110 to 10,000.
