Max Hypermarkets adds 20 large stores in India

In order to expand its retail operations in India, Max Hypermarkets India Pvt Ltd plans to add 20 large-format stores by March 2014. The company will initially add four stores by March 2012, to the 10 it currently operates. The company has typically spends Rs 100 million on setting up one store. Max Hypermarkets, part of Dubai-based retailer Landmark Group, runs Spa Hypermarkets in India via a license agreement with Amsterdam-headquartered food retail chain Spar. Opening of the Max Hypermarkets in the country would help the signage player engaging in in-store/in-shop displays.
