Japanese retailer Muji is planning to open a store in New Delhi. To be located at Select Citywalk by last week of April this year, the store will be the company’s first store in North India. Spreading across 5,000 sq ft, the retailer, which sells a wide array of products, ranging from stationery and clothing to furniture and food, had launched two stores in Mumbai and Bangalore in the last six months. In 2015, Reliance Brands, a unit of Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries, had struck a joint venture with Muji, which competes directly with Japan’s IKEA looking to open their first store in Hyderabad. Rapid popping up of high-end retail outlets in major cities across the country will be fresh business opportunity for the signage companies that engage in in-store branding, designs and related tasks.
