At the Retail Leadership Summit in Mumbai, Peter Betzel, CEO IKEA India, announced that the brand is slated to open its signature large store in Turbhe, Navi Mumbai this summer. Along with the massive Navi Mumbai store, the company also plans to launch at least one smaller store within Mumbai, so as to tap the entire potential of the metropolis. This smaller store is expected to be unveiled by the end of this calendar year. The company launched its first retail store in India in Hyderabad in August 2018. Industry insiders added that the smaller IKEA stores will be located in Mumbai’s central business districts and residential areas such as South Mumbai and the western and central suburbs of the city. IKEA India’s store expansion plan is an added business advantage for the signage companies engaging in in-store branding and graphic projects.
