It’s finally official that Swedish retail giant IKEA’s first India outlet, spread over a humungous 4 lakh sq ft, which is all set to open its doors in Hyderabad on July 19. Set up at an investment of Rs 1,000 crore, the store, which will employ 1,000 people (or co-workers as IKEA likes to call them) and stock 7,500 SKUs, will boast of many firsts for the Swedish behemoth. For starters, the store, which sits pretty amid Hyderabad’s bustling IT hub of Madhapur, will house IKEA’s largest restaurant anywhere in the world with 1,000 seats. On an average, in-house food courts in any IKEA store range from 400-700 seats. Popping up of the IKEA India stores in the country shows vibrancy in the retail domain, which will surely open up a new business opportunity for the signage companies whose jobs involve in in-shop signage and branding projects.
