IKEA, the world’s largest furniture retailer that opened its first India store in Hyderabad in 2018, may now foray into developing shopping malls along with flagship outlets. IKEA’s sister concern Ingka Centres (formerly Ikea Centres) owns 44 ‘retail parks’ in Europe, China and Russia. In its expansion plan, the company has been gearing up to open around six stores in Delhi-NCR in the coming years. The company is scouting for a land in Noida and also looking for a second site in Gurgaon. IKEA is also in talks with Garden Galleria Mall in Noida to open a smaller 50,000 sq ft outlet there. IKEA’s store expansion plan is a new business opportunity for the signage companies whose activities involve in in-store design and graphic projects.
