HP study says small-medium businesses in Asia-Pacific expect to thrive following pandemic

‘Survival to Revival’—the latest study of HP Inc on small-medium businesses (SMBs) in Asia-Pacific has found over 50 percent of small-medium business owners expect not just to survive but thrive following the pandemic, with digital transformation seen as a key part of the revival. Among them, 43 percent recorded lower productivity in June, compared to pre-COVID figures. HP released its research while introducing new services-based print solutions including an HP Roam for Business bundle, to make it easy to print on the go, and enhanced HP SecurePrint, a cloud-native solution that releases documents only to authorized users.

Completed on June 7, 2020, ‘Survival to Revival’ surveyed 1,600 SMBs across Australia, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. Only six percent of SMBs recorded higher levels of workplace productivity compared to the pre-COVID period while 43 percent recorded lower productivity. Growth projections have been significantly adjusted post pandemic. India and Vietnam are the most confident about post pandemic growth and Singapore, Japan and South Korea are least positive, the report says. Around 60 percent respondents see digital transformation as key with innovation in work processes, flexible work options and customised products and services identified as future strategies. A total of 1,600 SMBs were included in the survey with 200 interviews in each of the markets.
