India’s leading jewellery retailer Gitanjali Group plans to set up a total of 550 shops in India and abroad by end of this year. The company aims to set up additional 300 shops in India and 250 in abroad by the end of the current year. The expansion in the domestic market will be through a franchise route in Tier II and III cities as rents are lower than the tier I cities. The group now owns and operates two large retail chains (Rogers and Samuels) in the US, and has retail operations in Japan, China, Italy, Middle East and other countries. Mega expansion plan of Gitanjali Group is an added advantage for the signage companies dealing in displays, designs and others for in-shop parameters.
