India’s largest jewellery retailer, Gitanjali Gems Ltd, is set to acquire a Chinese manufacturing unit and jewellery retail firm by the end of 2011. Gitanjali, which retails diamond jewellery under the brands Gili, Nakshatra, Asmi and D’Damas in India, recently acquired four Italian jewellery brands from a unit of Dubai’s jewellery group Damas International. Gitanjali, is undergoing a business restructuring, and is looking ahead to increasing its presence domestically as well as internationally. Those signage companies associated with such retail players in the sector will get new opportunity for business expansion in the days to come.
