Delhi, Uttarakhand support multi-brand retail FDI

Delhi and Uttarakhand governments have supported the centre’s decision to allow foreign players to open multi-brand retail stores, saying it would help in reducing inflation and benefit farmers and consumers. The cabinet had decided on November 24, 2011 to allow 51 percent FDI in multi-brand retail, but the same could not be implemented in the face of strong opposition from some political parties in several state governments. Such new move towards the FDI allowing the multi-brand retail would be a fresh business opportunity for the signage companies dealing in in-shop displays and others related activities.
