De Beers SA, the world’s biggest producer of rough diamonds, plans to more than double the size of its retail network under the Forevermark brand name to 4,000 stores by 2020 from about 1,600 now, according to a source from the company. In India, the number of stores will rise to 200, from 160, in the same period. The plan by De Beers, with sales of $6.7 billion in 2014, to expand its retail chain marks a shift in strategy to investing more in promoting and building its own brands. Signage players engaging in in-shop branding, designs, displays and related activities will get fresh business with the mega expansion plan of the company.
