For years, retailers have been haunted by the thought of Amazon using its technological prowess to squeeze them into powder. That battle has mostly played out on Amazon’s home turf, the world of online shopping. Now the fight is coming directly to retailers on actual streets around the globe, where Amazon is slowly building a fleet of physical stores. Just recently the online marketing firm has opened its first physical store in New York and the next target is India. The objective is to locate these stores close to customers’ homes, which could help Amazon further its ambitions of delivering internet orders within hours. Popping up of the Amazon stores around the neighbourhoods will be a new business opportunity for the signage companies dealing in in-store branding, designs and such tasks.
