Canon India plans retail expansion by opening 300 ‘Canon Image Square’ stores by 2014. The company is planning to open most of its stores in tier II and III cities having a very low penetration. Also included in the company’s expansion plan is that they plan to spread their retail presence in 150 cities, adding around 300 operational stores by 2014 through 100 percent franchise route. Currently, the company has around 50 stores in 32 cities. Such mega expansion plan of this imaging giant will offer an added business opportunity for the signage companies dealing extensively in the in-store/in-hop branding, POP signage, graphics and others.
