Wal-Mart’s JV with Bharti Enterprises in India aims to open eight to 10 wholesale stores in 2011. The company currently has six outlets in the country and the original plan was to open 10 to 12 stores this year. The company is working on developing local supplies in southern and western India. The company is strong in Punjab and growing in northern parts of the country. Over the next several months, it aims to opening stores in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh. Indeed a swift change, this progress in Wal-Mart India’s store expansion will give in-store signage players a change to tap new business.
