Science World’s 40-m geodesic dome at Vancouver transformed into adidas Trionda for FIFA World Cup 2026

As long as FIFA World Cup 2026 is just weeks away, host cities are competing for the kind of visual moments that will define how brands, broadcasters and audiences see them during the tournament — and how those moments translate to broadcast impressions across what is projected to be the largest single-sport audience in history. The mega soccer event will be held in three cities, viz. Canada, Mexico, and United States. At Vancouver in Canada, that moment is a full-scale transformation of Science World’s 40-metre geodesic dome — originally built for Expo 86 — into the adidas Trionda, the official match ball of FIFA World Cup 2026.

Re-imagined as ‘The Beautiful Dome’, the structure is positioned to become one of the tournament’s defining backdrops for broadcast and social. Behind the change is The Look Company, which engineered, fabricated and is now installing 131 custom-shaped panels across a surface where no two sections are identical. In total, the team produced roughly 65,000 square feet of architectural-grade coated fabric, reinforced with 12,000 linear feet of webbing and 15,000 grommets—all precisely tensioned to conform to the dome’s double-curved geometry.
