Bharti Enterprises Ltd plans to have a total of 150 retail stores by the end of the current year, from about 80 now, including the ones run under a unit and ones run through a joint venture with Wal-Mart Stores Inc. Bharti Enterprises runs two cash-and-carry stores through Bharti Wal-Mart, a JV with Wal-Mart Stores, which is expected to go up to 10 by 2010 end. It has also been planned to increase the number of its mid-sized compact hypermarket stores under the ‘Easyday Market’ brand to 12 from six now. Among those benefiting with the opening of the new Bharti Wal-Mart stores will be some signage players, such as in-store media companies and sign suppliers to retail zone.
