Marks & Spencer (M&S) gears up for retail footprint expansion

Indian arm of the British multinational retailer Marks & Spencer (M&S) said that it has strong growth plans to ramp up stores in India amid reports of outlet closure back home due to challenging times. Marks & Spencer in India is a 51:49 JV between UK’s M&S and Reliance since 2008. The company has plans to open one store a month, said a source from the company. The company opened its 95th store and third in Kolkata recently. All stores in India are company owned and it does not have any franchise stores. Gradual retail footprint expansion move of the company is a new business opportunity for the signage companies engaging in in-store branding and such projects.
