Swedish retailer H&M plans to bump up its presence in tier II and III cities of India to capture the growing demand for its apparel brands beyond the metros. The company, which has 47 stores across the country, has aggressively expanded in India over the last five years. In 2019, H&M opened eight stores in India, lower than what it added in 2018 when it had opened 12 new stores. Tier II cities have been working very well for the company and the company has been testing in tier III cities like Coimbatore and Jalandhar and planning to open quite a lot in Tier II cities and some of them in Tier I. Vibrancy in the retail domain with H&M’s plan for retail expansion in small cities in India is a fresh business opportunity for the signage companies which handle in-store graphic and branding projects.
