Maruti targets 2017 to double its dealer outlets

Maruti Suzuki is looking at an aggressive ramp-up of its dealership presence in the country to meet its target of selling over 2 million cars by 2017. The company plans to double dealer outlets in the next three years from 1,331 at present by the targeted year. From the dealership perspective, the company focuses on how close could they go to their customers.  At present, the company has two dealership formats — main outlets and the emerging market outlets. It would add two more formats to penetrate rural areas which contribute about 32 percent in volumes to sales, up from about 5 percent in FY07. Those signage players such as PSPs, sign makers, branding firms, etc will get new business opportunity with such mega expansion plan of Maruti Suzuki.
